DepEd pushes education reform agenda
BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Education authorities on Friday gave more emphasis on the reform agenda for the educational system in an effort to embark on the K+12 Basic Education Program (BEP) of the Aquino administration.
During regional consultation held at the Teacher Development Center of Department of Education (DepEd) office here on Friday, DepEd officials coming from the various divisions in the four provinces and three cities in the Caraga Region gave their respective ideas, programs, and action plans to strengthen the K+12 BEP.
The regional public consultations was clustered into two divisions – the first cluster was in the morning where national government agencies and local government unit (LGU) officials were in full attendance, while the second cluster includes school administrators from both public and private schools, parents, teachers, students, and other stakeholders were present in the afternoon.
“This consultation is very vital so that the government will get the pulse of the public on the enhanced K+ 12 BEP program,” said DepEd Region 13 Director Gloria D. Benigno, in her opening remarks.
“The DepEd is embarking on a major program in the educational system in an effort to enhance the K+12 BEP,” she said. (Mike U. Crismundo)
