MANILA, Philippines – Filming for the primetime series “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” was halted Friday, March 18, after lead actress Andi Eigenmann suffered a second-degree burn due to a prop gun misfire.

According to a report on “The Buzz,” March 20, the incident occurred while Eigenmann was shooting an action sequence that required her to fall to the ground together with co-actor Martin del Rosario. Apparently, del Rosario--who was then carrying a gun loaded with dummy bullets--accidentally pulled the trigger as the camera rolled.

In a taped interview for “The Buzz,” del Rosario said he was as shocked as everyone on the set when he realized what happened. “Nataranta kaming lahat siyempre dahil butas 'yung jacket, butas ‘yung shirt,” said he.

Del Rosario was very distressed and quite apologetic. “Hindi ko iniisip na mapuputok ko yun,” he said. “Hindi ko sinasadya. Wala naman may gusto mangyari ang ganun.”

In a separate interview, Eigenmann said she didn’t realize what happened until she saw the hole in her clothes and the blood seeping out of it. “Tumayo ako, iyak na ako nang iyak, nag-freak-out talaga ako,” she said.

She, however, harbors no ill-feeling towards del Rosario, acknowledging that what happened was not intentional. “I’m fine now. Mawawala din naman siya [the wound]. It would heal.”

More, Eigenmann shared, “Nag-sorry na siya [del Rosario] through text,” she said. “Akala niya nagalit ako.”

“The Buzz” report noted that Eigenmann was still recuperating at home but that she would be able to resume work early next week. The official statement of the production team behind the hit TV series was also relayed in the same report.

"What happened to Andi Eigenmann and Martin del Rosario on the set of ‘Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin’ was purely an accident. Our actors are aware of the risks involved when doing action sequences on the show and their safety is always our priority," it said.

“Andi has already been treated for minor injuries while Martin has apologized to Andi for the mishap. Both of them will resume taping next week,” it added.

Incidentally, Eigenmann's accidental shooting occurred two days prior to the tragic killing of her "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin" co-actor, John Apacible, who was shot dead in the early morning of March 20.
