UK firm chooses Cebu as first Asian hub
CEBU CITY, Cebu, Philippines – A United Kingdom (UK) - based translation company announced recently that it has officially identified Cebu as hub for its Asian operations slated to open next month.
Christian Arno, founder and managing director of Lingo 24 said the company is set to open Cebu's first translation company this April, and that the firm is now aggressively forming its Cebuano team to manage its first Asian hub.
The Cebu-based team is led by Cebuano Jay Famor, who is designated as the Head for Asia operations.
"The translation business is an emerging business and has lots of growth potentials, especially in Cebu,” Arno said in a recent press conference. “There is a growing demand for content to be translated to different Asian languages including Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, and Japanese, and importantly high English proficiency."
Arno expressed optimism that opening Lingo24 in Cebu "is a right decision" given that Cebu has a good supply of highly skilled manpower, including multi-lingual talents.
"Cebu offers a diverse culture that includes American, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc. And the business atmosphere here is very attractive so we believe that we can grow our business here," he added.
Lingo24 in Cebu is targeting to hire over a hundred employees in the next two years.
The establishment, according to its founder and managing director, Arno, is a translation company based in Aberdeen, Scotland with operations in some parts of Europe and the United States for the last 10 years, is eyeing to locate in Cebu and is now aggressively looking for a potential site here, as well as talking with industry stakeholders.
Lingo24 translates corporate internal communications and documents into 25 languages.
It’s top services include technical translation, financial translation, legal translation, marketing translation, document translation, translation for market research, interpreting services and website localization.
Among its clients are Bloomberg, Royal Banking Scotland, MTV, BBC and Burger King.
