SAN JOSE, Antique, Philippines — Antique residents can now avail of iron fortified rice (I-Rice) after the National Food Authority (NFA) started selling the rice variety in accredited NFA outlets around the province.

Sold at P27 per kilo, I-Rice is available in all Tindahan Natin and Bigasan sa Parokya outlets in Antique province, said Antique NFA Manager Gil Ibarra.

I-rice is also available in some stores of member cooperatives belonging to the Antique Federation of Cooperatives (AFCUI) duly accredited by NFA.

“We are supporting this undertaking to provide access to more than 60,000 coop members to avail of affordable but nutritious rice,” said Tomdoly Antonio Manager of AFCUI.

The NFA has distributed over 250,000 bags of I-Rice in Antique province last year. These include appropriations for the Food-for-School Program.
