April 11, 2011, 9:49am

MANILA, Philippines — Canon, a leading imaging and optical products provider recently held a “Photography With a Difference” (PWD) exhibit at SM San Pablo, Laguna from April 2 to 9.

The PWD exhibit showcased photographs from workshops held last September at the Manila Zoo and SM Mall of Asia. Workshop participants included teachers and deaf students from Paaralang Pag-ibig at Pag-asa in San Pablo, Laguna, and members of the Visual Shot Club, a photography club for the deaf.

“I am happy that the program continues to inspire more people and puts Canon’s belief in the spirit of Kyosei into action,” said Alan Chung, Canon Marketing Philippines, Inc. CEO and president. Kyosei is a Japanese philosophy that means living and working together for the common good. “Photography is a great visual art form. This is why people have several perspectives when they see the exhibit.”

The workshop was organized by Canon brand ambassador John Chua, Orville Calicdan of Canon Advocacy Team (Canon A-Team), Harvey Chua, Lester Lagos of Visual Shot Club and Amor Rodriguez of Foto Baryo.

PWD is a special advocacy led by the Canon A-Team and John Chua. It is a series of activities where beneficiaries and photographers bond while learning lessons in life through the art of photography.

Aquila Legis fratman tops 2010 bar exams

Cesareo Antonio Singzon, Jr., a summa cum laude graduate from the Ateneo de Manila University, the 2010 class valedictorian of the Ateneo Law School and an Aquila Legis fratman, recently topped the 2010 Bar Examination.

Singzon bested all 982 bar passers by garnering an average score of 89 percent, the highest rating since 2002.

Aquila brod, Darren Salipsip, meanwhile placed in the top 10, garnering an average of 84.55 percent.

Singzon said his preparations for the bar exams included making a study schedule.

“I looked through the study schedule of previous bar placers and the lists of their respective review materials. I also asked for tips from my senior brods in the Aquila Legis Fraternity and my other lawyer-friends,” he said.

Both Singzon and Salipsip said the perfect formula to successfully hurdle the exams is prayer and hard work. The Aquila Legis, they added, was also instrumental to their success.

The recent passing of two fraternity brothers, Bubba Nocom and Jay Padlan also motivated them to work harder.

With Singzon’s success, Aquila Legis has now produced a total of five bar topnotchers since 1972, and also a total of 42 top ten placers over six decades.
