Malaybalay summer jobs
MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon, Philippines (PIA) – The city government here has hired 350 students who need to earn during summer to pursue their studies under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) and Work Appreciation Program (WAP).
Of the 350 students, 50 of them will be paid through the SPES, while 300 will be paid under the WAP scheme.
Those selected for SPES will be paid minimum daily wage, where 60 percent of which will be shouldered by the city government and the remaining 40 percent by the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE).
Students accommodated through WAP, however, will be paid 75 percent of the minimum daily wage that will be solely paid by the city government.
City Mayor Ignacio Zubiri said the student-trainees would be given opportunity to work at the city office, which would also give them a chance to earn money and have a sense of personal responsibility.
“This is their best bet for a productive summer, sort of an on-the-job training for 15 to 20 days which could give them a good head start,” said Zubiri.
