Iloilo sets grand welcome for Aliwan winners
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo, Philippines (PIA) — The Iloilo City government is readying a big victory celebration on Monday, April 25 for the winners of the recently concluded Aliwan Fiesta 2011 in Metro Manila.
Streets leading to the city’s Freedom Grandstand will be closed.
Guanco-JM Basa Streets going to Peralta Avenue will be closed at around 4:30 p.m. as Tribu Pan-ay and Tribu Pantat showcase at the Freedom Grandstand their winning performances that made them the champion and first runner-up in the Aliwan Festival, a contest of various festivals in the country.
Tribu Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School and Tribu Pantat of the municipality of Zarraga represented Iloilo’s Dinagyang Festival. They were the champions of the Ati-ati and Kasadyahan competitions of said festival this year.
According to the Iloilo City Public Information Office, before the performances a thanksgiving mass will be held at the San Jose Parish Parish Church at 3 p.m. This will be followed by a motorcade which will will pass through Jaro district, then Benigno Aquino Avenue and on to the City Proper area.
After the program, a victory party will follow at the Fort San Pedro National High School.
