MSU-Marawi set to modernize its ICT facilities
MARAWI CITY, Philippines – The Mindanao State University (MSU) here will embark on a multi-million-peso modernization program for its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) facilities aimed at providing the institution with a powerful system to enhance the learning process for marginalized communities and individuals.
MSU President Macapado A. Muslim said the move to improve and develop the ICT facilities at the main MSU campus here will provide an improved capacity in instruction, research, and extension by equipping it with relevant and modern technologies.
The system will also establish an information technology literacy program that is responsive to the multi-sectoral needs of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), he said.
Muslim believes that the system will provide a more rapid and greater transfer of skills through community-based training, distance and on-site learning, as well as bolster efforts to attain functional literacy in both formal and non-formal IT education which is a vital investment in advancing peace and uplifting the quality of life.
In a recent meeting with MSU faculty, students, and university officials held at Dimaporo Gymnasium here, Muslim said the establishment of modern ICT will likewise serve as a host for information relevant to the socio-economic development of the region.
Muslim explained that the idea of improving and modernizing the ICT at the main MSU campus here will provide greater opportunities for the university to effectively carry out its role in providing the less privileged population of the ARMM region access to information and quality education, which are both essential and crucial to ensuring sustainable peace and development in the area.
