NAIA assures improved services, safety of travelers
MANILA, Philippines — Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Angel Jose Honrado said they cannot find a suitable place to put beds or even futon chairs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 for backpackers and sleepers in airports who are on tight travel budget.
“It was really built that way,” Honrado told reporters during a news forum in Manila. “It will ensure the convenience and safety of passengers, but it cannot accommodate sleepers,” he said.
He also assured that they’re trying to improve everything at the airport, including the relationship and procedures of the major agencies like the PNP, the office of the Airport Security, the Bureau of Immigration, Bureau of Customs and Bureau of Quarantine.
“My job, the challenge is to improve the services to the best of my ability. What we can promise to you are functional ones, clean and fully equipped toilet, with toilet paper and soap,” said Honrado, as he dismissed claims that NAIA Terminal I is among the worst airports in the world.
An interactive website, “Guide to Sleeping in Airports,” ranked Terminal 1 as the 5th worst airport in the world.
The ranking was based on reviews of travelers who complained of “safety concerns, lack of comfortable seating, rude staff, hostile security, poor facilities, no or few services to pass the time, bribery and general hassles of being in the airport.”

I agree, they have a poor quality of services for there customer. Good thing that they are a new program for airport security it says that the Transportation Security Administration has a challenging career. Inspectors must make an effort to guarantee the safety of air travel, while keeping individual rights intact. The brand new Screening Passengers by Observation Techniques plan is attempting to streamline security a bit. Ideally, the plan is intended to cut down on how several hand-checks have to be carried out. The Government Accountability Office has, however, wondered how scientifically good and precise these SPOT checks might be. The proof is here: TSA SPOT program will focus on behavior detection in airports

Yeah, even when you go to the toilets, there is an asshole there that pretends to give you the toilet papers for a "lagay". It is only in the Philippines that it happens. I am an international traveller and you can immidiately smell the air of airport personnel that reeks of corruption as soon as you enter the arrival or departure area. They will ask you "Sir, baka naman may konting pasalubong" in a very hushed voice. When can this irritation be stopped for good ? Nakakahiya na talaga ang ugali natin. I once daparted last two months ago and borrowed a ball pen from a custom personnel to fill up my departure paper and he asked me point blank for $5.00 in return. Please, Pnoy do something about these stinks that is happening and let us be proud again to be Pilipinos.
The managers of this airport should not have waited for this international poor ratings issue to happen. Ever since this airport is poorly managed by corrupt and very incompetent and very poor standard and very backward managers. They don't know what needs to be improved in this airport? I am an ordinary citizen and an OFW, yet I can better improve this airport if allowed to do so. I have a much better standard of quality and service than those who are managing this airport at present. Other than the filthy toilets, for so many years they cannot even improve the signages and messages posted on walls, very backward and obsolete signages. customs and immigration personnel mostly chewing gums, looking very uneducated and corrupt, sales persons, looking like divisoria peddlers, no professionalism. decorations are very backward, and cheap. I can mention a lot of things,
