Major changes in LTO-8 announced
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Philippines (PIA) — Barely six months after assuming office as the new head of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Region 8, Regional Director Camilo T. Guarin bared last to local media last Tuesday major changes that have developed in his new place of assignment.
Appearing as guest in the Suruswerte ha PIA radio program over local radio broadcast station DYVL, Guarin, whose previous assignment was in the National Capital Region before he was transferred to Region 8, said that when he assumed his new post, he had observed that LTO-8’s law enforcement efforts was wanting.
“In the first quarter of 2011, however, law enforcement of the office increased to 30 percent,” he said, noting full support and cooperation by LTO-8 employees and partner law enforcement agencies in the region.
He said there were eight drivers found to be drug use-positive out of some 50 drivers of public transport vehicles who underwent voluntary drug testing in cooperation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in this region.
“This was a big help to both the owners of the vehicles as well as the riding public since their safety will now be assured,” Guarin said with regards efforts done by LTO-8 to ensure safety amongst public transport commuters.
