ANGONO, Rizal, Philippines — Hundreds of town folk, some suffering from various kinds of illnesses, cheerfully welcomed the Popemobile, giving hope to this town where it shall stay for four days until tomorrow.

Mayor Gerardo Calderon and other town officials reportedly requested for the brief stay of the revered Popemobile which was used by Blessed Pope John Paul II in the country in 1995.

It arrived here shortly before noon on Wednesday and has been stationed in front of the town hall.

St. Clement Parish Pastoral Council (SCPPC) the local organizer of the visit of the armored vehicle said the four-day stay in this town was made possible through the request of Fr. Clod V. Bagabaldo, a resident of Angono and who is the parish priest of St. Filomena Parish in Quezon City.

Llyod Miranda, of the SCPPC said they feel blessed with the visit of the vehicle as the date of its arrival here coincided with the birthday of Blessed Pope John Paul II.

“It is a challenge for us, the youth, to show proof that we are the hope of the church just as Blessed John Paul II put his trust in us,” Miranda said.
