MANILA, Philippines -- A policeman and a businesswoman drowned while diving in a Batangas beach resort on Saturday, a report reaching Camp Crame in Quezon City revealed Sunday.

But only the death of Midori Abalos was confirmed since search and rescue operation is still being conducted for Police Officer 3 Zaldy Lamsis, 35, assigned at the Police Security Protection Group.

Both victims are believed to be residents of Baguio City who came to Batangas to enjoy diving.

The report stated that the victims were diving on the waters fronting the Planet Dive resort in Sitio Balanoy, Barangay San Teodoro, Mabini town when they were reported to be missing at around 4 p.m. Saturday.

“The body of Midori Abalos was recovered more or less 30 meters from the shoreline and was brought at Mabini General Hospital but expired while undergoing medical treatment by attending physician,” the report read.

“The body of PO3 Zaldy Lamsis is still missing,” it added.

Divers and local search and rescue teams immediately launched a massive operation to look for Lamsis but to no avail.
