DAVAO CITY, Philippines – More than one thousand participants demonstrated their overwhelming support to the National Greening Program (NGP) of the government by planting more than 7,000 agricultural and forest trees seedlings in the upland areas of Lower and Upper Kibalang in Marilog District, this city.

Dubbed “Pomowat Kayo Festival” which is a Bagobo term for “let’s plant trees,” the launching marked another laudable success for the Region 11 office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-11) in its efforts to fight climate change.

In his message, DENR Assistant Secretary for Field Operations Regidor M. De Leon congratulated everyone for their enthusiasm and commitment to the NGP by planting trees.

He emphasized that without civil society participation, NGP will never be successful.

DENR-11 Director Jim O. Sampulna recalled that his office went through the tedious planning and coordination processes to ensure the success of the launching. (Mick M. Basa)
