PATIN-AY, Prosperidad, Agu-san del Sur, Philippines – In an effort to uplift the living condition of
the residents in the far-fung communities in Agusan del Sur, the provincial government is continuing its support without let up by extending fnancial assistance to local leaders for development projects.
The provincial government handed over funds for various development projects to municipal and village leaders.
With this continuing assistance, Agusan del Sur Gov. Adolph Edward “Eddiebong” G. Plaza urged the local heads to implement the projects judiciously so more support from the provincial government may be extended to them. (Mike Crismundo)
Waste project
DAVAO CITY, Philippines (PNA) – The city government here is ready to implement the garbage com-pulsory segregation starting July 1, this year, City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio announcedthe other day.
Duterte-Carpio said there would be no collection of garbage other than residual wastes starting July 1 as the city is one of the few cities in the country that complied with the Republic Act (RA) 9003, or the Act Providing for Ecological Solid Waste Management Program since its enactment in 2001.
The mayor said that based on the city’s Implementing Rules and Regulations, those who do not segregate their garbage will be fined not more than P3,000 or a maximum imprisonment of six months.
Aquino hailed
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – The officialdom of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)has lauded with a mission to replicate the Aquino administration’s success in posting highest record in monthly fiscal surplus in 25 years.
“We salute the President and his concerned bureaucrats in achieving for the nation the record highest monthly fiscal surplus in two and a half decades.
This is worth emulating in the regions including ARMM,” ARMM acting Gov. Ansaruddin Alonto Adiong said. (Ali Macabalang)
Education help
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines (PIA) – The United Nations’ International Children Emergency Fund (UNI-CEF) have prepared school bags with school supplies, and added with hygiene kits for the school children here.
UNICEF turned over these supplies to the offce of House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao and District 1 Rep.
Maria Isabelle “Beng” Climaco who will take charge in distributing these kits to elementary children in identifed schools in the city’s first district any time soon.
Climaco said some 200 school bags were initially donated by UNICEF following the recent visit of UNICEF Country Representative Vanessa Tobin in this city.
Lanao backing
TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Philippines – As the deadline imposed by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Philippine gov-ernment approaches, members of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) paid a courtesy call on the provincial leadership on Monday here for fast-tracking the peace effort in Southern Philippines.
Arriving at the Provincial Capitol building here, the IMT was welcomed by Provincial Administrator Joselito Quibranza who expressed full support to its mandate.
“We are happy with the IMT’s visit here in the province and we commit our full support to their vital function in the peace process,” Quibranza said.
