3 former presidents godparents to Bong-Lani silver wedding anniversary

MANILA, Philippines -- Silver for Bong and Lani: They had originally planned to return to the place where it all started – at a chapel in Forest Lawn in Glendale, California – but reasons of proximity and practicality prevailed in the twin hearts of Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Rep. Lani Mercado.

The couple are instead exchanging marriage vows marking their 25th anniversary at the Shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Villamor Airbase, Pasay City on May 28. A grand dinner feast follows at nearby Sofitel Hotel.

The wedding entourage: The silver wedding anniversary promises to be the most star-studded event in years, combining as it does on the wedding entourage and the guest list only the most powerful and the richest in the country.

The list of principal sponsors carries popular names from the worlds of entertainment, government and business, topped no less by three former presidents: Joseph Estrada, Fidel Ramos and Gloria Arroyo.

The complete list of ninongs follows: Mayor Alfredo Lim, Ernesto Maceda, Jose de Venecia, Ramon Ang of SMC, Atty. Felipe Gozon of GMA, Menardo Jimenez, Henry Sy Jr., Jimmy Duavit of GMA, Manny Pangilinan of TV5, Vic del Rosario, German Moreno.

The ninangs: Amelita “Ming” Ramos, Gretchen Oppen-Cojuangco, Teresita Ang, Lily Monteverde, Mercedes Gotianun, Elizabeth Quisumbing, Armida Siguion-Reyna, Wilma Galvante, Lolita Solis.

The names on the list of secondary sponsors to the Bong-Lani silver wedding anniversary are no less legendary.

They are made more memorable by long-time friends of the couple led by Phillip Salvador and Lorna Tolentino (candle), Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and Precy Ejercito (cord), Rep. Manny Pacquiao and Jinkee Pacquiao (veil).

Ending temptation: Revenge ends this Friday, May 27, on GMA’s “Temptation of Wife.”

The toprating Koreanovela that dramatically changed the afternoon block since October 2010 as viewers followed the story of the timid and submissive Angeline while her husband and best friend cheat on her. Angeline then transforms into the strong and vengeful Chantal.

“Temptation’s” ratings have been so good, according to GMA, they could compare with those of primetime shows. Its success inspired GMA to come up with a parallel series, “My Lover, My Wife,” which is shown back to back with the popular Koreanovela.
