Jolo allots P10-M for projects
JOLO, Sulu, Philippines – The municipal government here has allotted some P10.55 million for the improvement and construction of various infrastructure projects, including the vital sewerage system in this capital town of Sulu.
Mayor Hussin U. Amin said the local government here through the cooperation of the Sangguniang Bayan or Municipal Council here has allotted P10.55 million for the implementation of the said projects.
Amin said the amount of P5 million has been allotted for the construction of a modern open market in this town to serve the local residents here.
Likewise for the construction of a police station here costing about P1.5 million.
He said he also allotted some P550,000 for the rehabilitation of the drainage system located in the village of Takot-Takot.
Another P1,650,000 was also contributed by Tawi-Tawi Gov. Sadikul Sahali for the improvement of the drainage system in the village of Tulay up to Barangay Asturias where the heavy volume of floodwaters can accumulate during the rainy season here.
Amin said he also allotted another P750,000 for the improvement of the Jolo Library building where the offices of municipal councilors are located, and another P1.2 million was allotted for the completion of the Area Coordinating Center (ACC) here.
The municipal mayor said most of the projects are now more than 50 percent completed and are expected to be completed in due time.
“We expect that most of the projects here will be completed in due time probably by the end of June or early July at the most,” said Amin.
Adding that there are several small projects that had just started to be implemented here, and he expects that they will be completed in a short period of time.
Amin said his government is presently sourcing out funds to further improve the drainage system of this municipality to avoid the occurrence of flashfloods in the future.
