Parishes rally Bulacan vs. 'RH'
MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan, Philippines — Priests and the laity from all 107 parishes under the Diocese of Malolos converged over the weekend at the Basilica Minore of the Immaculate Concepcion, more commonly known as the Malolos Cathedral, to show opposition to the proposed Reproductive Health (RH) Bill.
The gathering of leaders of the church and religious organizations saw as their rallying point the message of Blessed Pope John Paul II: “A nation that kills its own children is a nation without hope.”
Monsignor Manny Villaroman, head of the diocesan Committee on Family and Life, and Rev. Fr. Dars Cabral, head of the Committee on Mass Media, said activities have been lined up for the faithful to express their conviction against the RH bill.
They said a crowd of one million people is expected to join the “Bulacan Rally for Life” which will start at the Provincial Capitol compound and culminate in a Holy Mass to be led by Bishop Jose F. Oliveros, D.D., at the Malolos Cathedral.
Villaroman also announced that Sen. Vicente Sotto III, Rep. Roilo Golez, former Manila Mayor and Environment Secretary Lito Atienza, former Sen. Franscisco “Kit” Tatad and Rev. Fr. Melvin Castro, executive secretary of ECFL will deliver short talk on the issue before the rally-march for life commences.
Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Malolos Mayor Christian D. Natividad will give welcome remarks while Bulacan Representatives Marivic Sy-Alvarado (1st District), Pedro Pancho (2nd District), Joselito Mendoza (3rd District), Linabelle Villarica (4th District) and Arturo Robes (lone district of San Jose Del Monte City) and Valenzuela Representatives Magtangol Gunigundo and Rex Gatchalian will give their views on the controversial RH Bill.
