DepEd boosts 'Pantawid Pamilya' program
BORACAY ISLAND, Philippines (PNA) – The Department of Education (DepEd) will hire more teachers, construct new classrooms and provide other basic inputs in areas where the "Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino" Program or the conditional cash transfer (CCT) is implemented.
This was the commitment of the DepEd relayed by Undersecretary Rizalino Rivera during consultation workshop this week attended by regional directors of three concerned agencies to also include the Department of Health (DoH) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on the program held in this resort island.
For 2011, DepEd will hire 604 new teachers, construct 837 classrooms, provide additional 155,394 chairs and tables and 1,425 units of water and sanitation facilities to CCT areas belonging to Sets 1 to 3.
Meanwhile, the DepEd has left to DSWD the identification of the areas that are in need of the inputs to be given priority.
