Bohol governor vows DLP support
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Philippines — Bohol Governor Edgar M. Chatto has vowed support for the implementation of Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) in the province.
Said DLP, which is a learning innovation conceptualized by 2010 Ramon Magsaysay awardees for education, well-known physicists and scientists Drs. Christopher and Victoria Bernido, maximizes learning by veering away from the traditional passive classroom set-up where students are usually dependent on the abilities of their teachers.
Said learning technique will be implemented in Bohol province starting this school year.
The new way of delivering education was created with Filipino students, particularly Boholanos, in mind by the Bernidos in 2002. Their broad intent is to enable such students to compete globally despite limited resources and as the educational landscape in the country continues to evolve.
It can be recalled that the provincial government and the Department of Education were signatories to a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on the implementation of the DLP in public secondary schools effective school year 2011 – 2012 and is now being practiced in schools all through the province.
Chatto has challenged high school teachers in public schools here to help achieve a unified set of actions in support of the program as it will uplift the educational system of the province which is expected to develop productive students in the future.
