DPWH fast-tracks P1.2-billion gov't projects in E. Visayas

PALO, Leyte — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast- tracking the implementation of some P1.2 billion worth of infrastructure projects considered priority projects under the administration of President Benigno S. Aquino III in Eastern Visayas.

Engineer Rolando M. Asis, Regional Director of the DPWH in Region 8, said as part of the agency’s 113th anniversary, projects started since President Aquino came to office are 20 percent completed. “The DPWH intends to achieve our development goals based on the President’s Social Contract and his administration’s 16 areas of Transformational Leadership,” stressed Asis.

He said the P1.2 billion worth of projects under the current administration in Leyte and Samar includes the concreting of the remaining primary arterial road from Allen in Northern Samar's first district to Liloan, Southern Leyte which is 66.25 kilometers uncemented.

He said the project has a budget of P6.8 billion and is targeted for completion by year 2014 as all primary arterial roads must be completed by then.
