Livelihood assistance for rebel returnees
TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Philippines — Rebel returnees in this province have no regrets joining mainstream society now that the Aquino government is taking care of them, Program Coordinator Bing Haddac of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) said Monday.
Haddac said the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Kalinga and the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Peace Process (OPAPP) will soon sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) that will provide livelihood assistance to rebel returnees in this province.
She said the PLGU will become the conduit party for this program as what has already been done in other provinces in the country where there are rebel returnees and a growing number of rebels wanting to go back to the mainstream society.
