Laguna freezer case suspect arrested
CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Laguna/SAN MATEO, Isabela/CAMP CRAME, Quezon City, Philippines — The prime suspect in one of the country’s most brutal crimes this year involving a two women found dead inside a freezer in San Pablo City, Laguna, was arrested at a rented house in San Mateo, Isabela Wednesday.
Chief Inspector Dominador Pagtalitan, San Mateo chief of police, said Bayani F. Corpuz, 52, alias “Ben,” a laborer and native of Tarlac, was arrested by his men at 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday at a boarding house he shared with his family in Barangay Uno, San Mateo town.
Senior Supt. Gilberto Cruz, Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, said the suspect who last worked as a family driver of the victims – Leticia Lupian and her niece Vilma Bandilao, 23 – carries a P300,000 reward for his capture.
Last June 22, the frozen bodies of the victims were discovered by one Antonio del Villar inside a warehouse in Mariflor Subdivision, Barangay Del Remedio, San Pablo City.
San Pablo City Mayor Vicente Amante offered the reward for the arrest of the suspect, whom Cruz said may look at eight murder and homicide cases in Isabela, Nueva Viscaya and other provinces in Northern Luzon.
