QC plans online teaching scheme
MANILA, Philippines — In a continuing effort to provide quality education, the Quezon City government is planning to adopt an online scheme in teaching school children, including dropouts and the unschooled.
Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte has directed Division of City Schools officer-in-charge (OIC) Dr. Corazon Rubio to study the possibility of putting in place the program that will also address the problem of highly congested schools and out-of-school youths (OSY) in the city.
Belmonte said the city government and school authorities might tap new technologies using the Internet in teaching school-age children, including the dropouts, in various subjects that should be taught in the classrooms.
“What we need in this system are desktop computers, modules and teachers, which will cost less than building classrooms, and purchasing desks and chairs for school children,” Belmonte added.
