US DoJ offers to assist Cebu in solving cyber case
CEBU, Philippines – The United States Department of Justice (DoJ) has expressed its intent to participate in the technical investigation on the cyber pornography case against a couple based in Cordova, Mactan who sold their kids, including a three-year-old girl, to online customers.
US DoJ Attache Roberty Courtney called on Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Carcia Monday and conveyed the department’s intention to join in the further investigation of the case. He told Garcia his agency can trace the couple’s US-based customers.
In his meeting with Garcia and Cebu Vice-Governor Agnes Magpale, Courtney said the US DoJ has experts who can tweak the computers seized when authorities raided the couple to identify the foreign customers, especially Americans.
Any more than that, Courtney, refused to provide further details on their interest in the case.
Charges of qualified trafficking and child abuse have already been filed in court against the couple who were arrested in a raid at their home in Cordova town, south of Mactan Island.
