Magnitude-6.2 earthquake rocks Visayas and Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines -- A "swarm" of moderate to strong earthquakes continued to jolt parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
At 4:47 a.m. Tuesday, Phivolcs recorded the strongest tremor so far among the series of earthquakes at magnitude 6.2.
Its epicenter was located 78 kilometers southwest of Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Intensity V was felt in Sipalay City, Kabangkalan and Cauayan in Negros occidental; Intensity IV in Iloilo City, Oton in Iloilo, Dumaguete City, and Binalbagan, Hinigaran and Sibulan in Negros Occidental; Intensity III in Lapu-lapu City, San Jose and Anini-y in Antique, Roxas City, Panay in Capiz, Dapitan City, Talisay City in Negros Occidental, Dipolog City, Hamtic in Antique, and Sagay City; Intensity II in Cagayan de Oro City, La Carlota City, Buenavista in Agusan del Sur, and Patnongon in Antique; and Intensity I in Kalibo, Lezo and Banga in Aklan, La Castellana in Negros Occidental, and Zamboanga City.
According to Jane Punongbayan, Phivolcs supervising science research specialist, the tremors are “swarm of earthquakes caused by movements along the Negros Trench.”
“The 6.2-magnitude earthquake is relatively strong as compared to the tremors recorded last Monday,” Punongbayan said.

Just to let the writer know, Dumaguete City and Sibulan town are not in Negros Occidental. Its in NEGROS ORIENTAL.
