ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – The District Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) here has started to implement the asphalt overlay and repair of dilapidated roads costing the agency some P165 million.

DPWH- Zamboanga City District Engineer Merham Acas said his office is now implementing at least 16 programs, most of them are road rehabilitation and asphalt overlay projects.

Acas said at least 10 road sections in this city will be asphalted to prolong the life span of the concrete road.

A three-kilometer long highway section located in the Barangay Tuktuk Kalaw of the Maria Clara Lobregat national highway is also included in the asphalted program of the district, he said.

Included also in the program is the re-blocking or replacement of concrete of some city road sections here, he added.

He said the projects are being undertaken by a local contractor who has the capacity to undertake the projects.

Acas said his office is expecting the completion of all the projects before November this year.
