Female consultants
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), obviously a male-dominated organization, has enlisted the help of two Muslim women leaders, a human rights lawyer and an educator, designating them as members of the Board of Consultants (BoC) of the MILF peace panel.
Mohagher Iqbal, chairman of the MILF panel in the peace process with the Philippine government, confirmed this Thursday to the Manila Bulletin, saying it shows the Moro revolutionary group’s trust in the ability of Moro women in fostering peace and galvanizing not only their sector, but all sectors of society.
“The MILF welcomes them as members of the BoC and counts on them to help in the peace process. BoC will be a body to advise the peace panel in many aspects of the efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace settlement in Mindanao,” said Iqbal.
Luwaran.net identified the two as lawyer Raissa Jajurie and educator Bai Cabaybay Abubakar.
Jajurie, a Tausog, is head of Nisaul-HaqBangsamoro (Bangsamoro Women's Rights) and Bangsamoro Lawyers’ Network.
