Leyte tourism to go global
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Philippines — Aiming to open more opportunities for Leyte, the provincial government is poised to join overseas trade and investment fairs this year.
Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho L. Petilla revealed that Leyte province, through the Leyte Tourism and Investment Promotions Center (LTIPC), will be strengthening its investments campaign by joining an international trade and investment fair in London and one other country in Europe within the year.
He said that there will certainly be a boost in tourism and the economy from viable investments from interested and dependable investors in and outside the country, and participating in international investment fairs is one way to encourage investors and businesses to take a look at the Leyte, Petilla said.
“We are looking at trade fairs to give us the opportunity to show our capabilities, our products and our market,” he said.
Petilla added that it is their hope that going global in Leyte’s selling mission would result to an influx of investments in the province and the region, and the creation of employment opportunities for the people.
Regarding tourism, the province earlier identified island beach getaways, diving and eco-tourism spots, spa and indigenous wellness attractions, as well as cultural destinations main offerings for travel trade players in trade exhibitions to consider. Also high in the priority list is the building of a “destination hotel” to lure tourists to the province as well as likewise provide jobs for the locals.
