Dairy production
TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — A ranking official of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) recommended the mass production of milk products in Cagayan Valley.
In his visit to Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague, Isabela Campus, DoST Undersecretary Fortunato dela Peña cited the wide pasture lands in Cagayan Valley region which can be used for domesticating more cattle and carabaos as sources of milk for dairy production.
He said that that agency has been assisting different organizations and institutions in processing dairy products which is now one of the One Town One Products (OTOP) of some towns in the region. (Freddie Lazaro)
Kalahi projects
LUCENA CITY — Eight towns in Quezon province will benefit from projects totaling P67-million under the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI) - Makamasang Tugon program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
In a memorandum of agreement (MoA) signed by Quezon Governor David C. Suarez and DSWD Region 4-A Director Vilma Naviamos, the provincial officials accepted responsibility for the proper implementation of the projects which complements President Benigno S. Aquino’s III “Tuwid Na Daan” motto.
The beneficiaries of the program are the towns of Buenavista, P18-million; San Narciso, P12-million; Panukulan, P8-million; Dolores, P8-million; San Francisco, P8-million; Burdeos, P7 million; Patnanungan,P3-million and Jomalig, P2.5-million. (Danny Estacio)
Swiss firm joins Clark zone
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga — Clark Development Corporation announced Wednesday the signing of an agreement with a Swiss firm who will infuse P285 million for a factory to produce chip bonding tools for semi-conductors plants operating inside this Freeport zone.
CDC President Antonio Felipe B. Remollo said Switzerland-based Special Precision Tools (Phils) Clark Corporation is expected to supply the needs of various firms, including Texas Instrument Clark, Phoenix Semiconductor Philippine Corporation, Siemens and other leading semi-conductor firms in Clark. Cavite execs off to Korea
TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — Governor Jonvic Remulla Jr. and four provincial board members (BMs) will visit Seoul, South Korea, next week to meet with officials and invite businessmen to invest in the province.
The 43-year-old Remulla and the BMs Larry Boy S. Nato, Irene D. Bencito Raul Rex D. Mangubat and Marcos C. Amutan are set to leave the country on July 26 for the four-day official trip to the Korean capital.
The trip was acknowledged by Vice Governor Sangguniang Panglalawigan (Provincial Board) Presiding Officer Recto M. Cantimbuhan during the recent regular session. (Anthony Giron)
Green films
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – SM City Calamba is launching a Green Film Festival as part of an environmental awareness campaign. The campaign aims to help in educating the youth on pressing issues such as climate change by giving them free film screening of award-winning documentaries by BBC and Discovery at SM Cinemas.
Joanna Carla Meneses-Saquilayan, mall information officer, said the Green Film Festival commenced at SM City Calamba. Students of the Camp Vicente Lim National High School, Crossing Elementary School, and Barangay Real Elementary School were among the first to participate in the festival, viewing the film “Sangtuwaryo.” (Ferdinand Castro)
