Vigan mayor eyeing CSC award
VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur, Philippines — Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina has brought new sense of pride in this city as one of three public servants in Region 1 vying for the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC’s) 2011 National Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees.
CSC Chairman Francisco T. Duque III confirmed that Medina is one of the semi-finalists in the Dangal ng Bayan category.
Duque also revealed that La Union Governor Manuel Ortega is a semi-finalist in the Pagasa category while the Metro La Union Water District Special Audit Team under the Commission on Audit Regional Office 1 is a semi-finalist in the Lingkod Bayan category.
They are among the 52 individual and eight group semi-finalists currently under re-evaluation to determine who will receive the Presidential Lingkog Bayan, Dangal ng Bayan and Pagasa Awards.
Duque said the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award is given to an individual or group for exceptional contributions resulting from an idea or performance on public interest.
The Pagasa Award is awarded to an individual or group for outstanding contributions that directly benefit more than one department of government on a certain degree of standards.
