RBCO cites river basin concerns
CEBU CITY, Cebu — As the Region 7 office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) five major concerns were also cited by River Basin Control Office (RBCO) Executive Director Vicente Tuddao, Jr. cited five major concerns even as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) formally forged a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) with 32 various institutions,
These said major concerns pointed to by Tudao include natural and human-made disaster prevention and response management, water use and supply management, water pollution and waste reduction management, water security and livelihood management, and creation and mobilization of river basin organizations.
The RBCO is special agency attached to the DENR central office mandated to promote and advocate an integrated river basin management system to ensure protection of the environment and people against floods and other natural disasters.
Meanwhile, DENR7 regional executive director Maximo Dichoso headed the signing of said MOC which also seeks the creation and organization of the Central Cebu River Basins Management Council.
Local provincial officials headed by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Cebu City mayor Michael Rama signed the MOC yesterday at this city’s Montebello Villa Hotel.
