BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Malacañang declared August 2 as “Special Non-Working Day” here.

Under Presidential Proclamation No. 197, President Aquino on Tuesday declared August 2 as a special day here which marks its 61st Charter Day anniversary.

“This will give the people of Butuan the opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the Presidential Proclamation added.

Meanwhile, the city government headed by Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante Jr. will be spearheading the “61st Adlaw Hong Butuan” celebration on August 2 at the City Sports Complex here.

The week-long celebration already started on Monday where various activities were lined up until the culmination day.

To commemorate its administrative status as a city, the local government presents the “City’s Modern Culture” through street-dancing parties, colorful floats, and other activities.

Local officials said that all line agencies of the government and non-government organizations will be participating in the week-long festivities.

We are a nation of too many "HOLIDAYS".We have a big job at hand,
how could we expect more work to be accomplished ,with all these free time we?I thought the previous administration was worst but the new one
seems like as bad & it could be worst before the end of his term. This could keep us as an elite member of the "THIRD WORLD COUNTRY".
GOOD LUCK TO THE COUNTRY I'VE LOVE.
