Income generation

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (PNA) — City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio announced the priority plans for rehabilitation and construction of some income generating infrastructure projects as part of the city government’s efforts to spruce up its economic enterprises. The City Council here recently approved the more than P545 million Supplemental Budget for this year.

City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) acting chief Roberto Alabado III said over P211 million has been set aside for infrastructure projects. The mayor said the city government has raised efforts to ensure that the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal will undergo rehabilitation and generate income for the city.

Project MOM

PANABO CITY (PNA) — Project MOM, a mobile library project of former Ms. Universe title holder Margie Moran-Floirendo, was successfully launched in major Day-Care Centers in the villages of Cabay-angan, New Casay, and Magupising in Braulio E. Dujali town, Davao del Norte recently.

Floirendo’s pet project brought vital educational sessions to the said villages, where some 300 day-care pupils were able to benefit from book reading, action singing, drawing, story telling, and constructive play sessions. Project MoM is also supported Davao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Anton F. Lagdameo Jr., Provincial Liga ng mga Barangay President and Board Member Vincent Floirendo, the Don Antonio O. Floirendo Sr. Foundation, and TADECO.

Village raods

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The Region 12 office of the Department of Agriculture (DA-12) completed the construction of a 4.5-kilometer farm-to-market road worth P3 million in a remote village in President Roxas, North Cotabato. DA-12 Director Amalia Jayag-Datukan said the road project connects the agricultural villages of Sarayan and Kisupaan.

With the completion of the road project, Datukan said local farmers could now easily transport their farm produce including rice, corn, coconut, coffee, mango, and sugar cane to the market area in Poblacion. “The DA is really committed to implement development projects that will boost agricultural production in the region,” Datukan said.

Heritage park

BUTUAN CITY — An Archaeological Park, the first of its kind in the Philippines, is set to rise in this city. The establishment of the Archaeological Park will be funded by the city government, in support to the P10 million grant from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).

The establishment of the country’s historical mark was announced by Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. recently. Amante also announced that the National Museum will soon start the excavation of the remaining “Balangay” boats in Barangay Libertad here. (Mike Crismundo)

Safety measure

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano on Wednesday ordered all city division chiefs, concerned agencies, and all sectors of society to launch a campaign “every now and then” for disaster preparedness in this city. Emano made this announcement following the continuing disasters besetting the country.

He explained that the city and all concerned agencies should be ready for any calamity that may come. “We need to look after the safety of our people, and focusing on disaster risk reduction would make it easier for us to make the needed steps in order to save lives,” he said. (Mike Crismundo)
