NARVACAN, Ilocos Sur, Philippines – A ranking leader of a New People’s Army (NPA) group operating in the mountains that straddle Abra, Mountain Province and Ilocos Sur surrendered to operatives of the Army’s 503rd Infantry Brigade based at Sitio Barbarit, Tagodtod, Lagangilang, Abra, last Tuesday.

Colonel Miguel T. Puyao, spokesman of the Army’s 5th Infantry Division based in Camp Melchor F. dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela, identified the rebel leader as Amugung Dao-ayan, alias Jango, a team leader of the Kilusang Larangang Guerilla (KLG) Montes.
