Leyte school kids given supplies
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — An Waray party-list representatives distributed school supplies to elementary grade pupils in this city recently. An Waray Rep. Florencio Noel said a total of 2,724 elementary school children in this city availed of such supplies as notebooks, paper pads, and pencils. “We believe better education of the children will be achieved if they are supplied with the necessary materials and supplies for their daily needs in their school activities,” Noel said.
He informed that the school supplies, which were packed in envelopes, were distributed under the party-list’s “Kaurusa ha Kabubuwason” program along with a commitment to support school children, particular less privileged pupils in this city.
“Education remains one of An Waray’s top priority projects,” said Noel. “Providing free school supplies to our underprivileged children is one way of helping them and their parents in lessening the cost of education,”
Noel said school children who received the party-list’s donated school supplies were from the elementary schools of Barangays Sta. Elena, Tagpuro, Scandinavian Village, Paglaum, Camansihay, Basper, Sto. Niño, San Isidro, Old and New Kawayan and Cabalawan, all from Tacloban’s northern part. .
He said An Waray plans to also later distribute new chairs to these elementary schools.
Noel also said that schools in other parts of Eastern Visayas will also be later given similar supplies by An Waray.
