MANILA, Philippines — A passenger bus figured in a head-on collision with a truck in an expressway in Batangas, injuring the two drivers and 30 of their passengers, a police official said Tuesday.

The damage caused by the collision on both vehicles pinned the truck driver and his helper in the wreckage, said Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina, director of the Highway Patrol Group.

Espina said the incident occurred at noon on Monday at the Kilometer 88 of the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) in Barangay Lapu-Lapu in Ibaan town.

Espina said both the drivers, Joselito Ramos of Kinglong Ceres Bus (DXU-903) and Cherry Vapor of FUSO truck owned by RVL Movers, were taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.

Espina said Vapor and his helper Elmer Pae had to be taken out of the front portion of the truck which was wrecked as a result of the incident.

Of the 32 injured, 19 were taken to a hospital in Lipa City while the rest to a government hospital in Batangas City.
