Farm projects

CARRASCAL, Surigao del Sur, Philippines — The national government is allocating some P26 million for various farm infrastructure projects in an effort to increase the farm production of farmers in this town.

It was learned that the fund allocation is part of the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project III (ARISP III) to be implemented in the province of Surigao del Sur.

Officials of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) said the projects will be composed of farm-to-market roads and irrigation system for Barangay Adlay through the Adlay Integrated Social Forestry Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (ADISFAMCO).

As this developed, officials of DAR and NIA, along with the local government units (LGUs) and ADSFAMCO started discussing the tasks, roles, and responsibilities of the various stakeholders, including the contractor towards the completion of the projects.

ARISP consultant and team leader Yukihiro Kawahara, Vice Mayor Alfred Arreza, provincial agrarian reform officer Benjamin Mataksil, ARISP technical coordinator for the Caraga Region Imelda Lamboon and Cristina Dagdag, NIA technical coordinator Delsy Revillame, NIA representatives, DAR officials, and agrarian reform beneficiaries participated in the discussion.
