BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — The city government here is set to receive medical equipment worth more than P42 million from a non-government donor organization in the United States (US).
Local officials said the medical equipment intended for the city government, especially for the Butuan City Medical Center, will be a big help and support for the surgical and medical needs of the patients.
The various equipment include X-ray machine, operating room equipment, hospital beds, and other supplies.
The various medical equipment are being extended by the World Medical Relief, Incorporated, a non-government organization based in the US.
According to Sangguniang Panglungsod Member Virgilio G. Nery Jr., who is the chairman of the Committee on Health and Sanitation, the city government is now allocating P1.5 million for the freight and handling of the equipment from the US.
Meanwhile, Nery, who also chairs the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, said the city government is opening a 10,000-hectare land for economic investments, with both foreign and domestic investors as co-management operators.
