Imus arsenal museum opens soon
IMUS, Cavite, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DoT) is expected to turnover soon to the provincial government the key to this town’s famed and historic arsenal museum.
The state-of-the art Imus Arsenal-Museum block at Camp General Pantaleon Garcia in Barangay Poblacion IV has been closed for public viewing for many years for some reasons.
The aging one-storey arsenal structure, which used to be an old Spanish garrison, was renovated to be a museum when former Senator Richard J. Gordon was the DoT Secretary. The renovation was reportedly funded by the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA).
The door key of the arsenal-museum was held by the DoT since it was opened to the public during the commemoration of the 107th Battle of Imus on September 3, 2003, officials said.
Imus Tourism Officer Baby D. Crisostomo said that the Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) under Liberty Herrera and the DoT-Region IV-A led by Director Louella Herrera had an ocular inspection of the closed museum recently after a negotiation for the turnover of the the door key.
