Aquino nephew leads Pinoy Youth Leaders Convention opening in Bohol
TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines (PIA) – Francis Joseph “Kiko” Dee led guests and Saturday’s opening of the Pinoy Youth Leader’s Convention (LeadCon) national kick-off event at the President Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex, in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Dee is the son of Richard Joseph Dee and Victoria Eliza Aquino-Dee, third daughter of the late President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino.
The presidential nephew, who is an active youth leader and a Filipino youth role model, led participants in reciting the “Panunumpa ng Aking Henerasyon” and the signing of the Manifesto of the Greatest Filipino Youth Generation Sunday, the death anniversary celebration of his grandfather, Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino.
The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Provincial Federation of Bohol through the Office of Board Member Doxson T. Asoy played host to the national kick-off event of this year’s LeadCon, which was spearheaded by the Kabayanihan Foundation, Inc. in coordination with the National Youth Commission.
The goal of the LeadCon series is to gather all SK Chairman, SK Councilors, students and youth to create an army of volunteers and change makers willing to help the present administration in implementing its reform agenda, especially the national government’s programs for the youth.
It is also intended to be a venue for the youth to learn and share best practices and initiatives from such groups as the Institute for Solidarity in Asia, Kaya Natin Movement, Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines, the Ayala Young Leaders’ Congress (AYLC) and others championing good governance, responsible citizenship and volunteerism.
The August 20-21, 2011 Bohol event will be the biggest gathering of youth in the country in time for the celebration of the UN International Year of the Youth and as we commemorate the International Youth Day, ASEAN Youth Day, Heroes Month and the death anniversaries of President Cory Aquino and Senator Ninoy Aquino every month of August.
