DILG awards Iloilo provincial government
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo, Philippines —The transparent local governance of Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. has been cited by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) which made the Iloilo provincial government a recipients of the Seal of Good Housekeeping for its excellent performance in “key governance areas of planning, fiscal management, transparency and accountability and valuing performance monitoring.”
Defensor said that public bidding in all transactions has been a driving force of his administration’s program.
The governor emphasized that the bidding process is open publicly for transparency and accountability.
“We are letting people know that there are no commissions, no under the table dealings, and no favored contractors,” Defensor stressed.
According to DILG provincial director Rosario Masa, the provincial government will be soon avail of P7 million in Performance Challenge Fund (PCF).
Defensor said the P7 million cash award will augment existing health and infrastructure projects.
Meanwhile, 17 Iloilo towns were also made recipients of the same award. The Seal of Good Housekeeping was conferred on the towns of Alimodian, Barotac Nuevo, Calinog, Concepcion, Dingle, Dumangas, Estancia, Janiuay, Leon, Maasin, Miagao, Oton, Pavia, San Enrique, San Joaquin, Sta. Barbara, and Tigbauan.
