TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, Philippines – The ground works for the multi-million-peso development of the four tourism areas in the province of Surigao del Sur will finally start following the approval of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) of the Department of Tourism (DoT).

Hand-in-hand, the provincial government, the DoT, and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will start the development of the four scenic and panoramic tourist spots strategically located in the three towns and a city of this province.

The plan was materialized after tourism officials led by DoT Undersecretary Ma. Victoria Jasmin and DoT Region 13 Director Letty Tan visited the four tourist spots in the region on Sunday.

It was learned that the officials will mobilize their respective resources and machineries to develop the majestic Tinuy-an Falls in Bislig City, the Enchanted River in Hinatuan town, the Britania Islands and islets in San Agustin town, and the powdery white beach in Cagwait town.

The 15-kilometer road going to Tinuy-an Falls will be concreted, and an all-weather-road going to Britania and Enchanted will also be constructed.

On the other hand, the DoT already released the P200,000 for the Lanuza Master Planning regarding tourism in the area.

As this developed, Surigao del Sur Governor Johnny Pimentel and Surigao del Sur Rep. Philip Pichay were very much elated after informed regarding the development plan for the tourism program in the province.

The provincial officials and the DoT also agreed to help “one another” in making these areas more developed and globally competitive.
