Development efforts
SURIGAO CITY, Philippines – Officials and members of the Regional Development Council (RDC) in the Caraga Region lined up several priority programs, including concerns of the private sector for 2012-2013.
The priorities include education, health, social and livelihood programs for village communities, and more infrastructure projects.
Also discussed during the recent RDC executive meeting here were the invitation to participate in the travel to Israel, and “Mindanao One Trade and Tourism Exhibit” in Manila next month.
The meeting also discussed the creation of an oversight committee and the establishment of a science high school in the province of Surigao del Norte.
In the same meeting, officials and members of the RDC-Caraga also provisionally approved the proposal to conduct a study on the impact of the “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” or 4Ps – a national government poverty alleviation program.
RDC Chairperson and Surigao del Norte Governor Sol F. Matugas received other several concerns of provinces and cities in Northeastern Mindanao for RDC endorsement.
Also deliberated in that meeting include the turnover of chairmanship of the Lake Mainit Development Alliance (LMDA) after the resignation of LMDA Program Director Kaiser Recabo, proposed training program for local government units, and RDC activities in the coming months.
