NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines (PIA) — The National Statistics Office here is conducting a household energy consumption survey (HECS), which will serve as basis for an effective household energy strategy.

The 2011 HECS is a nationwide special survey that gathers information on households’ utilization of fuels, supply systems, and the patterns of energy use and other variables that may be useful to assess the current energy profiles of different households and communities in the country.

Through this undertaking of the NSO, the Department of Energy can determine the most energy consuming appliances, devises and equipment used for household activities.

The NSO has just completed data gathering on energy consumption patterns of business establishments.

The said agency is conducting the 2011 HECS in collaboration with the DoE--the primary user of the survey results.

The survey results will be used for formulating and implementing policies and programs for improving the quality of life of the Filipinos.
