Fun run
MALOLOS CITY, Philippines — Hundreds of individuals, students and local officials joined in a fun run last Friday to drum up support for the government’s campaign against smoking.
Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado expressed full support for the Smoke Free Philippines Run and Health Covenant Signature Campaign.
Alvarado and the Philippine Military Academy, Philippine Medical Associations, Bulacan Health Department officials and employees also joined the run after which Alvarado led the covenant signing at the Mini Forest inside the capitol compound here.
He noted the harmful effects of smoking not only to smokers but to other individuals through second-hand smoke.
The Department of Health (DoH) reported that tobacco smoke contains dangerous chemicals that put passive smokers at high risk.
