Cebu coop expands in Leyte
HILONGOS, Leyte, Philippines — In its aim to promote networking rather than competing, the Cebu Peoples Multipurpose Cooperative (CPMC) has expanded in this province by recently forging a full business partnership with Hilongos Multipurpose Cooperative (HMC).
Macario Quevedo, CPMC chief executive officer in an exclusive interview with Manila Bulletin bared that the partnership is the first venture of CPMC and is part of the Access to Competitive Technologies and Innovations for a Viable and Efficient Cooperative (ACTIVE) program where it hopes to improve the management and operation of the partner coop.
Quevedo explained that in the said partnership venture the board of partner coop shall oversee the management of the coop with peoples coop as ex-officio member of the board, monitor and demand performance from the partnership management, enforce administrative policies governing employee discipline and the likes and severally liable of all capital infused to the coop.
He added that part of the collaboration will be the use of CPMC’s automated Cooperative Accounting System (CAS) which provides an easy-to-use application that helps track day-to-day operation where members can also check their transactions by logging in the coops website.
