CEBU CITY, Cebu, Philippines — A cable television provider is confident that it will be able to grab a sizeable market in Cebu for its high definition (HD) technology in television viewing, owing to the strong demand for HD services.

“Cebu's market is ready for HD viewing and we see more HD subscriptions to rise in the next few days,” said Gidget Faustino, SkyCabled head for regional marketing.

SkyCable introduced HD services in Cebu last October 10 via four SkyCable HD Packs for varied consumption needs, following the company's move to full digitalization of its network connection in the country.

Faustino said Cebu currently has some 40,000 residential subscribers under its digital package, and she voiced optimism that a significant number of these customers who have HD televisions will maximize their viewing by shifting to HD technology.

At present, there are some 6,000 SkyCable HD series subscribers nationwide.

HD service is being made available in different packages including the Innovation Pack which provides Discovery HD World, History HD, and HBO HD. Meanwhile, the “Revolution Pack” offers Fox Crime HD, Fox Family HD, Fox HD, Star Movies HD and National Geographic HD.

The company also bared availability of its NBA Premium TV (HD) Pack for NBA fanatics and the Power Pack that offers all of its 11 HD channels.
