Dipolog projects
DIPOLOG CITY, Philippines — The local government here has completed at least two infrastructure projects funded under the 20 percent development fund of the city. In a report submitted by City Engr. Nedilla D. Magdayo to Mayor Evelyn Uy indicated that were about 11 projects her office has completed as of September this year.
These projects include the P1.92-M Dipolog City Airport Parking Area and the P2.5-M Urban Poor Road Network at Barangay Galas, Engr. Magdayo told Mayor Uy. The two projects were funded by the 20% Development Fund of the City Government. (Nonoy E. Lacson)
Furniture distribution
TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, (PNA) — A total of 964 armchairs and desks were recently distributed to three public high schools in Davao del Norte made by the city government here from confiscated lumber. Mayor Rey Uy of Tagum City spearheaded the distribution of arm chairs to the Datu Libayao Memorial National High School, the Sto. Nino National High School and the Sawata National High School in San Isidro town.
Uy said 700 armchairs and desks were given to Talaingod schools, while 124 armchairs, 60 desks and 80 kiddies chairs to Sawata Elementary School in San Isidro. Marlon Ebrado, principal of Sawata Elementary School, expressed his thanks to Uy whom he coordinated their school’s needs through a single text message. (PNA)
Latin city
ZAMBOANGA CITY, (PNA) — Department of Tourism (DoT) Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. has vowed to endorse Zamboanga’s branding as “Asia’s Latin City,” saying it speaks well of this city’s culture and history because of its strong Latin influence. Jimenez said the Latin influence was very obvious even in this city’s dialect, chabacano, as well as in the dances and music.
“If I were to add, Zamboanga City is Asia’s most colorful city. Give it a picture; it is the most colorful city in Asia,” Jimenez said. An advertising mogul before he was appointed the country’s Tourism chief, Jimenez said: “Asia’s Latin City is very apt for Zamboanga City and is absolutely a good endorsement line." (PNA)
New computers
GENERAL SANTOS CITY, (PIA) — The public-private partnership (PPP) is taking off even in the education sector with the implementation of private sectors’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in various public schools here. Recently, the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (AFI) went beyond its commitment to address the social and economic development needs of less privileged communities and members of society through its CSR projects.
The foundation, in cooperation with the South Cotabato Electric Cooperative (SOCOTECO) II signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education for the turnover of ten brand new computer units to New Guadalupe Elementary School in barangay Conel here.
Bus tour
KORONADAL CITY, (PIA) — The recent tour of Department of Health’s Lakbay Buhay Kalusugan (LBK) to South Cotabato directly benefited at least 3,182 elderlies, parents and children in T’boli town, an official of the provincial government said.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rogelio Aturdido reported that 1,167 individuals received “critical health services” on the first day of operation and 2,015 were added on the second day.
