ILOILO CITY, Iloilo, Philippines (PNA) – The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Region 6 has set aside a P21.8 million budget for the implementation of Western Visayas’ organic agriculture program

Hector Peñaranda, said program’s focus person said a total of 34 priority areas in Western Visayas has been selected as beneficiaries.

These areas include the following provinces, namely Aklan with four priority areas; Antique with six; Capiz, with four; Iloilo, with nine; Guimaras, with three; and Negros Occidental with eight.

Peñaranda said the program aims to help farmers in these selected areas improve the natural method of farming through the use of modern farming technology in order to speed up organic farming.

Effective method in composting will be taught to farmers in organic farming, among other technologies.
