Negros Oriental PNP scores anew
DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Philippines (PNA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Negros Oriental has scored anew in its campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms in the province following the arrest of a man alleged to be in illegal possession of a handgun and ammunition in Siaton, Negros Oriental.
The suspect was identified as Arnie Aguirre, 43, and a resident of Sitio Magsusunog in Pamplona, Negros Oriental.
Siaton police personnel arrested Aguirre last Tuesday morning inside the house of Giligaon village chief Dioscoro Gomez Jr. after he (Aguirre) failed to present proper documents to carry a firearm.
Confiscated from the suspect were a .45 caliber Colt pistol and a magazine clip loaded with 13 rounds of live ammunition.
Upon verification, the police discovered that the suspect was carrying an expired firearm’s license and did not have the necessary permit-to-carry.
The Siaton police is now preparing to file a criminal complaint against the suspect for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition in violation of Republic Act 8294
